Term is associated with ridiculous nowadays but to me it’s basically connecting some dots that should not be connected but we suspect some might have done it.
Considering we are usually discussing human constructs or human understandings of things, I don’t share the bias of ridiculing such theories. I do realize they bring disconfort even being considered seriously because they imply betrayal at some deep social structure levels hence my thinking is that our brains reject them by reflex - because of that reason alone.
To give an analogy, I think it would be hard to eat some salamy or burger if we had to see the animal butchered or have some vivid memories constantly refreshed in our minds on how those mest products take place. We don’t even see animals when we eat them and similarly we don’t actually comprehend wars, pandemics, economical manipulations and so on. Not really.
