It’s not that easy to convince people to give up their money… or is it?

I agree with the general idea that consuming has been a general driver of increasing our standards of living, moving the economy so much in the past decades.
From tech to services, food, entertainment and countless other areas, they all came with places to work, payed better and better. We are generally doing so much better than our grandparents now simply because we have countless way to spend the money we earn and drive the economy further.
I also think we are at the point where most people are addicted to the byproducts and fully opted into the mirage of human constructs they are offered. New generations cannot even consider life without things like social media or an iphone of latest generation which btw comes out every year.
My though at this point is that it would be a great superpower to be able to triage all this stuff and pace oneself. While I do understand that we cannot all stop because “the economy would crumble”, on a personal level we would be so much better off financially and mentally to optout as much as possible and understand we don’t need all that shit - not really, not all the time. Also interesting to realize that at this point its so hard for us to optout while so easy for “them” to lure us with infinite options, knowing so much about human thinking and having so many production capabilities.
